Appledore names new lifeboat

Mollie Hunt, Appledore's new RNLI Tamar class all-weather lifeboat arrived home in Appledore for the first time on Monday 22nd March, and went on station officially on 29th March.

On Sunday 19th September at 3.30 pm she will be officially named in front of over three hundred especially invited quests including the families of those whose gifts and legacies have helped fund her.

Several hundred more well wishes from Appledore and the surrounding area are also expected to take part in the ceremony.

Appledore’s new Tamar Class all weather lifeboat RNLB Mollie Hunt has been funded by the generous legacy of Mrs Evelyn Mary Hunt, together with other legacies and gifts.

She passed away in September 1998. Appledore's new Tamar is the first suitable lifeboat available in the Devon area to receive this bequest, which totalled in excess of £1.3 million.
