Common sense plea

Police are urging us to use common sense and make sure our cars are clear of snow and ice before we set off.

It comes as this car was spotted driving through Devon.

The car was being driven by an elderly lady, so she could pick up food and medication.  Police have now given her an ice scraper, and asked her neighbours to offer their help in the future.

Inspector Matt Lawler said: "This is an extreme example, but shows how important it is for drivers to listen to the warnings and advice that police and other agencies are offering.  I don't think we are asking for a lot - just some common sense to avoid unnecessary accidents."
