Deer Collision Danger

14 April 2010, 06:00

Every year, there are around 74,000 deer-vehicle collisions in the UK.

Driving experts are warning us we're coming up to one of the most active times of year for deer activity, so our chances of being involved in a collision are higher.

Chief Examiner at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, Peter Rodger, said: "Be aware of more than what's simply on the road in front of you, be aware of what's off to either side of the road so that you can see the animals before they reach the roadside."

We're being told to watch out for tracks at the side of the road, because deer often use the same routes, and to keep an eye out for others if we see one, as they tend to be in groups.
