Free Fire Checks for Families

Households more than 10 minutes away from their nearest fire station need to be extra vigilant when it comes to fire safety.

That's according to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, who are offering free Home Safety Visits which aim to prevent fires from happening, and create a plan if a fire should break out.

Someone from the fire and rescue service will visit anyone who is concerned about their own home fire safety.

Barry Webb, a station manager, said: "We want families to have already thought about their escape plan and to be walking, as a family, down the stairs and through the front door to safety."
