Help for Abuse Victims Saved

A programme which helps turn around the lives of domestic violence sufferers in Torridge and North Devon has been saved.

It was feared the Pattern Changing course would be axed completely when Devon County Council had to withdraw all the funding in March because of government cutbacks.

But now a new source of funding, from various children's centres has been secured.

It means at least four 14 week courses can run until March 2012.  Each will help 15 victims of domestic abuse and violence break the habits of a life-time. Every person on the course will have a counsellor for support.

The course has been running for about seven years and has a high success rate.
