Hundreds Spent Clearing North Devon Lane

Four separate instances of illegal fly-tipping in the same place in a quiet country lane just outside Bideford over the last month have cost Torridge council tax payers hundreds of pounds.

Scratchyface Lane, off Bowden Green in Bideford, has been used as an illegal dumping ground for all sorts of green waste, as well as some household and building waste, and on two occasions the piles dumped were so large that the lane was completely blocked.

Following initial complaints from a member of the public, all of the waste was cleared by the council but a few days later a second similar load was dumped close by. This was again cleared but two more loads subsequently appeared over the next couple of weeks.
