Jobs Boost For Exeter

Hundreds of staff are being sought for the new John Lewis store opening in Exeter.

Recruitment for the first tranche of supervisors and sector head posts has now begun.

That's about 20 jobs. Another 280 posts will be advertised later this month.  Those jobs will include shop-floor staff, store workers and catering staff.

The company's expecting at least three thousand people will be applying for those jobs because of the shortage of work in the city.

John Lewis normally attract high numbers of applicants because workers become partners and have a share in any profits.

The store is being built from the extensively renovated old Debenhams building in Sidwell Street and should be opening in the autumn.
