Second Devon Hotel destroyed By Fire

50 fireman and 9 appliances have been sent to Ilfracombe to tackle a fire at a disused hotel.

Fire Control received a high volume of calls reporting a hotel on fire in Torrs Park and mobilised 2 appliances from Ilfracombe. 

On arrival a further 2 crews were requested along with the water bowser and the aerial ladder platform from Barnstaple.

A short time later another 2 crews were requested.  There are crews from Ilfracombe, Barnstaple, Combe Martin, Lynton and Woolacombe in attendance along with the incident command unit from Ilfracombe crewed by the Braunton crew.

The building of 4 floors in the unoccupied former hotel has fire affecting 50% of all floors.  One 70ml main jet, 2 45ml jets and 4 breathing apparatus are currently in use.

The incident is ongoing.
