Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a bookies in Leighton Buzzard was targeted by an armed robber on Saturday 2nd March.

At around 6.50pm the offender entered Betfred in Wing Road in Leighton Buzzard, armed with what appeared to be a handgun, and threatened a member of staff. The raider demanded money, which was handed over, before fleeing the store towards New Road.

The offender is described as being a white male, between five feet ten inches and six feet tall and was wearing a light coloured hooded top and had tights covering his face.

Detective Constable Rachel Foy, who is investigating the offence, is keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the raid or seen the offender leaving the shop after the raid.

DC Foy said: "This was an extremely frightening attack and it is important that we catch this offender as soon as possible. The offender fled towards New Road but we believe that he may have made his way to Mentmore Park.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery or anyone else who may have information - however small or insignificant they think it is - that could help us. Don't dismiss your information as unimportant - even tiny details which don't seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation."

Two people have been arrested in relation to this raid and released on police bail pending further inquiries
