London 2012 Olympic torch Name: Fraser Hart
Hometown: Perth
Age: 12
Nomination: Fraser was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes aged 3 1/2 years. On diagnosis the care he received was awful but he never once complained. with his diagnosis his mum trained to be a diabetes specialist nurse - it had to be better than that! Fraser was the first child under the age of 12 to use an insulin pump at the age of 4, he is now 12 and a 'diabetes buddy' for children newly diagnosed with this condition. He visits children and their families to let them see, life goes on, just a little different to before. He always sees the positive side of having diabetes and talks to children at schools, helps at diabetes camps to show diabetes does not have to stop you being the best you can be. Fraser is an active fundraiser for the JDRF raising over GBP1,000 last year.
Olympic Torch - Freddie Wright Name: Freddie Wright
Hometown: Radlett
Age: 12
Nomination: Haberdashers` nurtures excellence challenging bright boys to achieve the highest standards. From age 7 Freddie has attended Habs and is an exemplary pupil. Excelling in sport and a key member of the school tems, he has been selected to train and represent Hertfordshire at cricket with his own year group and also with the age group above and has trialled for the county for hockey. He plays for Radlett Crciket club and attends their excellence programme; plays hocley for Harpenden; plays golf for Porters Park. Freddie is a motivating figure, a respected leader and his determination to succeed is admired by his peers and encourages them to strive for success.
