Bedfordshire Police are appealing for independent witnesses following a violent incident in Biggleswade that left two men injured.

It happened at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 6 April when there was a confrontation between two men in their twenties by the river at the Mill Lane recreation ground in Biggleswade.

A member of the public intervened, by which time both men had suffered head injuries and were in the water. An ambulance was called and one was taken to the Lister Hospital, near Stevenage, where he received 15 stitches.

Investigation Officer Vicki Gibson, from the Serious Crime Investigation Team (SCIT), wants to speak to anyone else who saw what went on that evening.

She said: “Both these men suffered some nasty injuries and we are keen to establish exactly what went on in the park and why.

“Among those who may be help are those who were out walking their dog, playing with their children or simply taking an evening stroll after work.”

Anyone with information can contact IO Gibson, in confidence, on 01582 473210, the main switchboard on 01234 841212, text to 07786 200011 or telephone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
