Police investigating the death of a taxi driver injured at a taxi rank in Bedford have charged a man with murder.

61 year old Mehar Dhariwal from Kempston died last Sunday, a week after the attack in St Peters Street.

His family have paid this tribute to the father of three who they have said they will struggle to cope without and miss very much: 'He was a real people person who loved to be out and about in the community.

'Our dad loved his family more than anything in the world.

He 'adored his job as a taxi driver and although he did not need to continue working, he just wanted to be out and about. He would often do the school runs and loved working with those with learning difficulties and disabilities. He came home numerous times with drawings that had been done especially for him and it made him so proud.'

He leaves behind a wife, three sons and four grandchildren who have been overwhelmed with people stopping to pass on their condolences and have thanked family and friends for all their support.
