Man Denies Murder Of Bedford Woman

A Chinese man's pleaded not guilty to murdering a woman at a house in Bedford.

Gang Wang, 46, of Ashburnham Road was charged with the murder of Yong Li Qui, who died at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge on March 25.

Mrs Qui, 42, was attacked in a different home in the same road on March 18 and never regained consciousness. She is survived by her husband and 17 year old son.

Mr Wang, who was aided by a Mandarin interpreter, shook his head and pleaded not guilty when the charge was put to him at St Albans crown court.

Judge Andrew Bright QC remanded Wang in custody for a trial which will be heard before him at Luton crown court on 1 October this year.

A defence case statement and expert evidence from psychiatrists is to be served on the prosecution by 27 July.
