Shopkeeper Dies

A shop owner has died four days after allegedly being hit on the head in a flat above his store.

It's claimed Sri Lanken born Vairamutha Thiyagarajah, 56, was attacked at MK Food and Wine in Elstow Road, Bedford at ten to five on Sunday 7 April 2013.

He was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in a serious condition. He died on the afternoon of Thursday 11 April.

Thilak Moham-Raj, 25, who lived in the flat has been charged with GBH with intent.

The prosecution is now reviewing the charges in light of Mr Thiyagarajah's death.

Mr Thiyagarajah was married with a son and four daughters.
