Bracknell Safe Place Scheme

22 July 2010, 06:00

Heart's been told a new Safe Place Scheme in Bracknell has not been set up in response to a string of sexual assaults on teenagers in the town.

Organisers say the scheme has been planned for several months, and is in no way a result of two sexual assaults and an attempted abduction of three teenage girls earlier this year.

The Safe Place Scheme is being launched today (22nd July), and is designed to give you somewhere to go if you ever feel vulnerable in Bracknell town centre.

Loads of the town's shops are involved in the scheme, and will be displaying stickers in their front windows to show people can go in and ask a shop assistant to call for help.

Councillors and local police officers are hoping the Safe Place Scheme will be rolled out across the borough later this year.
