Thames Valley Police are investigating an incident in Burghfield Common, where a 12 year- old boy reported a man was acting suspiciously in his car.

The incident happened in the Clay Hill Road area around 4.50pm on Wednesday (28th Sept 11).

The child said that the man tried to talk to him and asked him to get into the car. The man did not get out of his car and there was no attempt to force thechild into the vehicle.

The child reported the incident to an adult who then contacted Thames Valley Police.

Ch Insp Lindsey Finch, the Deputy West Berkshire Local Police Area Commander told Heart: "We are investigating this and would welcome any information that the public may have. Incidents of this kind are thankfully rare, and the man did not get out of the vehicle or make any physical attempt to force the boy into the car.

I understand that there will naturally be concern in the local community about what occurred yesterday, and our local neighbourhood officers will be in the area today to provide extra reassurance, particularly around the local schools."

CI Finch added "We have made local schools aware of the incident and we are keen to trace a small silver car that was seen acting suspiciously in the area. We believe that it was being driven by a man in his late twenties to early thirties."
