Meet Michaela Power
We spent an hour with Michaela one Sunday after her show, and popped a few questions to her.
What’s your full name?
Date of Birth?
Some time ago one March.
Do you reckon you’re tall or short?
Compact and bijoux.
What’s your favourite holiday destination and why?
I like discovering new places, but if I want a little week away somewhere familiar, Spain is always a good option. I’ve always had fun in Spain. I even lived in Majorca for a summer when I was deciding how best to waste my life.
Any holiday anecdotes?
What happens on holiday stays on holiday!
What’s your favourite tipple?
I drink lots of water. My body is a temple and all that.
Prefer a take away or eating out?
I love eating out. But if I’m staying in to eat I prefer to make something myself. At least you know what you’re getting! Well, hopefully.
Like sport or are you a couch potato?
Neither. But I do like Yoga, which I recommend highly. It’s great for breathing and posture and you feel fantastic after a class. I love dance classes too. The old leotard’s had quite an airing over the years. Madge, eat yer heart out.
What’s the thing you’re least likely to say?
Yeah, I’ll come for a run later.
Didn’t hobbies go out of fashion in the 70’s?
Who’d you most like to interview?
The cast of Friends. Still my favourite sitcom ever.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t jump. No, seriously….‘Never assume’, that’s a good bit of advice.
If I wasn't me I'd like to be?
I don’t think being someone else would be all it’s cracked up to be. They say if you were to sit around a table with a group and everyone put their problems in a hat, you’d be glad to have your own. It’s similar with wanting to be someone else. What if you got inside their mind and discovered some dark secret, hmmm?
Who’d be your top five dinner party guests (dead or alive)?
Elvis, John or Bobby Kennedy, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey and my best friend, Anthony Davis. He’d probably want to bring Barry Manilow, so can we make it six?
What are you most scared of?
Ghosts, knife-wielding nutters. That kind of thing.
What’s your biggest achievement so far?
Getting out of bed on time to get to work each day.
On a scale of 1-10 please your DIY skills?
I’m quite handy around the house so I’d give myself at least a 6.
How are you most likely to spend your day off ?
Dance class, a wander round the shops, lunch, catch up with friends, movie, chill.
Which actor would play you in a film of your life?
SJP or Meryl Streep.
If you weren't a DJ what would you be?
Maybe be a writer or an agony aunt. I’m quite compassionate and nosy.
What would I find in your fridge?
A large bar of Green & Black’s chocolate, capers, rocket salad, pitta bread, humous, pate, root ginger, random other vegetables, prawns and Innocent Smoothies. Plus the happy clappers handbook.
