Radio in Schools is a brand new project that can help develop speaking, listening and creativity in your school. It’s a really easy to use podcasting platform that lets you create and store podcasts, and share them with pupils and teachers in school. You can also showcase the best podcasts on your very own Radio in Schools home page, link these to your school website and engage parents and your local community.

Best of all, Radio in Schools has linked up with us and the whole radio industry to provide lesson plans and links to Literacy Frameworks and the National Curriculum. You can also listen to professional podcasts from some of the country’s most respected radio presenters. Competitions, visits to local schools and station tours are all planned for the next school year.

Radio in Schools is aimed at infants, primary & secondary schools across the UK, and any youth organisations that work with children and young people who would like to get their voice heard.

Radio in Schools Podcasting Competition
Radio in Schools and Heart 96.3 are pleased to announce the winners of the Radio in Schools Podcasting Competition, to be hosted at Gay Elms Primary School, Hartcliffe on Monday March 30th at 11am.

Gay Elms Primary School has won a professional podcasting workshop with the Heart Breakfast show presenters Bush, Troy and Paulina. The competition was launched in January, giving Bristol schools the opportunity to meet the popular presenters and create their own podcasts, with the best bits broadcast on Heart 96.3!

A total of 15 children will be attending the workshop. Bush, Troy and Paulina will introduce them to podcasting, show them how to use the Radio in Schools Virtual Studio and offer top tips and advice.

Melissa Thom, Director of Radio in Schools said:
“Podcasting is all about telling your own and finding out about other people’s stories. Bush, Troy and Paulina are the perfect storytellers and will be on hand with some great tips on how to produce simple podcasts using Radio in Schools.  It’s a really exciting opportunity to excite young learners with real life models and experiences”

Annette Osborne, Head teacher at Gay Elms Primary School is thrilled with the prize. She commented:
“Gay Elms Primary are delighted to have won the podcasting workshop with Heart’s Bush, Troy and Paulina.  Effective communication skills are essential to the development of children’s learning and to have Heart breakfast come and share their expertise with the children will really motivate and enthuse them.  We are all very excited.”

Radio in Schools is supported by the Global Radio, the UK’s premier radio station and home to the Heart network. It offers real life radio models and examples to schools, teachers and pupils, including podcasts and lesson guides from some of the most respected radio presenters in the country.
