A Bridgwater woman has written abook about the struggle to get answers about the death of her son in Afghanistan.

Sargent Ben Knight was 25 years old when the Nimrod plane he was flying in exploded over Afganistan in 2006. All 14 people on board were killed in the biggest single loss of life seen in the British Military since the Falklands war. It took 3 years for the MOD to admit that the plane wasn't airworthy. An admission they only made after legal action from families. A coroner had previsously said that the fleet of Nimord aircraft had never been fit to fly.

Ben's mum Trish Knight kept notes during their fight to get answers about his death. She never planned to write a book but told Heart that it now seemed the right thing to do.

'I wanted it in writing for the grandchildren. We've got four now, but they were all born after Ben was killed, so none of them known Ben, none of them had the pleasure of knowing Ben and playing with him. So thats why I decided to put it all in book form'

She said although the struggle to get the truth was hard as they tried to grieve, they were determined they would find out what really happened.

'It was just something that had to be done. I didn't have a choice. Someone had killed Ben and I couldn't just sit back and do nothing. I think he would want people to know that the very people he put his trust in, that were supposed to be keeping him safe, are the ones that got him killed.'
