Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured in a collision on the A370 Long Ashton bypass in Bristol on Wednesday morning.

The cyclist, a man in his fifties, was knocked off his bike after a collision with a small dark coloured saloon at about 7.15am. The car driver initially got out of their vehicle but they did not stop at the scene.

The cyclist was taken to Frenchay Hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Sgt Chris Kedward said:

"We are trying to trace the driver of the car and would appeal for them to come forward as soon as possible. I also want to speak to anyone who saw the collision or has information which can help us establish what happened."

The A370 heading into Bristol was partially closed.
