Bristol Zoo is a five-hectare family day out in the heart of Clifton...
Opened in 1836, it is the world's oldest provincial zoo and has appeared on TV numerous times, most notably "Animal Magic" with Johnny Morris.
Whether you're interested in seeing the considerable amount of animal species they have, the stunning gardens they keep or just a day to keep the kids entertained; Bristol Zoo is definitely a must-see for the entire family.
Not only can you see the animals, but there are many 'hands-on' experiences too, including the chance to feed the Lorikeets in Explorers Creek and many animal encounters throughout the day, giving you the chance to get up close and learn about the different species in the zoo.
One of the popular attractions at the zoo is 'ZooRopia' - a five-metre high course around the centre of the zoo, so you can see the animals from up above. It's open for anyone over the age of five for an extra cost.
The Gardens at the zoo contain one of Bristol's most important collection of plants, trees and shrubs. Covering 12-acres of rare beauty and outstanding variety.
To keep the kids occupied, they have an activity centre where they offer face-painting, brass-rubbing, badge-making and much more. Plus, for the more adventurous child, they have an Adventure Playground.
Of course, there is a cafe for that well deserved cuppa and cake and a gift shop to remember your day out.
Bristol Zoo also have different events throughout the year, which you can find out by clicking the link on the side.
