Become An Archaeologist At Cheddar Gorge & Caves
Calling all future archaeologists! Cheddar Gorge & Caves are getting involved in the annual Festival of Archaeology, giving you the chance to learn all about your local heritage and the archaeology of the spectacular caves.
Come and take a trip back through time and learn all about our prehistoric ancestors this summer, as they've got loads of special activities planned to make sure we're all more excited about archaeology.
Take part in their new trail which will see you venturing through the depths of Gough’s Cave, trying to identify one of its ancient inhabitants.
Younger visitors will love getting hands-on making their very own cave drawings and clay thumb pots, and you can even have a go at digging through the sand trays like a real archaeologist. Can you tell a historical artefact from a modern day red-herring?
Make sure you take a look around the museum of prehistory where you'll find loads of information and objects found in the Cheddar area that help show us how our ancestors lived thousands of years ago.
You can even find out about the world-famous Cheddar Man - one of the oldest Mesolithic skeletons ever found which was discovered in Gough’s Cave in 1996. You might even spot some famous Cheddar Cheese while you're in the caves too. Plus you can really get into the spirit of the ages and dress up.
Want to go there on us? Then enter below before 23:59 on Sunday 23rd July and you could be winning day tickets for two adults and two children and £100 to spend.
