Take A Walk On The Wild Side, 16th-18th May 2014, Wiltshire

Visitors to Sherston will get the chance to get just a little bit closer to nature.

This will be a rare opportunity to be involved in some fantastic experiences, such as “Bird Ringing”, bats in their natural habitat and there will also be a chance to meet our local celebrity Darcy the Owl!

There will be a range of activities to include walks, talks, trails, crafts, meet and greet with animals and creatures, photographic exhibition, pet service, forest school and what to do if you find an injured animal or bird. There will be something that will appeal to all ages from bugs to bats.A number of local and national societies will have stands and lots of experts will be on hand including Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation, Avon Valley River Trust, a wildlife refuge, British Trust for Ornithology and RSPB.

A number of people, as well as the local scouts, are building a variety of boxes including those for Barn Owls, Little Owls and House Sparrows. The Owl boxes will be put up in local trees and barn’s ( if we can use one) and the House Sparrows, who have communal nests, will have new housing in the centre of the village.

Bouncy Castle

The Hucclecote Show at King George V Playing Field, Saturday May 31st, 14:00pm to 20:00pm, Gloucestershire. 

There will be a huge selection of Craft and Food Stalls and a running bar all day. There will be an Arena where there will be dancing displays by award winning children of our Community.

Surrounding the playing field will be lots of inflatable castles and similar. We are going to be spotlighting local bands,school and church choirs and youth football and there will be a Soap Box Derby race.

Northamptonshire County Youth Orchestra

The Burnham & Highbridge Choral Society's Spring Concert, 10th May 2014, 19.30pm, Somerset

Guest soloist, Mary Morgan (Soprano) is an experienced soloist who is originally from the U.S. Mary was pleased to be part of a charity concert in aid of 'Care for Casualties' at St Mary Magdalene Church in Taunton last November, with guest presenter Clinton Rogers. Mary will be joining the choir for this concert, along with a 12 piece orchestral ensemble.

Tickets £7.50 available from members, Grandma’s Attic, Victoria St. (cash only) or purchased on the door. There is plenty of parking available at Asda, which is only a short walk away.

Pody refused to hibernate 

BTO Garden and Urban Wildlife Conference, Saturday 24th May 2014, Trowbridge Civic Centre, Wiltshire

The conference will be celebrating the importance of gardens and urban areas as habitats for wildlife and will include speakers from the British Trust for Ornithology, Butterfly Conservation and a local bat group. In addition, there will talks from experts on urban Peregrines and Hedgehogs. So whatever your wildlife passion, there should be something for you! There will also be an opportunity to pick the experts' brains whether you want to know what plants will attract butterflies or how to get involved in wildlife surveys.Tickets are £18 including lunch and refreshments.
