Bristol Harbour Festival Weekend

On Friday July 30th-Sunday August 1st 2010, almost 250,000 people descended into Bristol for this year's Harbour Festival.

It all kicked off on Friday evening, with a concert in Queen Square. Incorporating Jazz, Blues, Ska & Reggae, this was the perfect start to the biggest free weekend event in the South West.

On the Saturday, I was in the Heart Alfresco Zone in Castle Park, meeting a lot of you and having pictures taken. We also had outdoor games and face-painting thanks to the Heart Angels. After, I went exploring to see what was on offer, I was amazed at how much there was to see and do.

In Castle Park alone, they had circus acts and music as well as few food stalls. Heading down towards the Waterfront, the atmosphere was electric, plus the weather helped.

I took in as much as I could, but settled in Queen Square, where the mix of continental markets and music on stage were the perfect combination.

Saturday also saw the most amazing Fireworks over the city. I decided to watch them near to the Matthew, which was also out for the festival. It was the perfect end to a fantastic day.

Sunday, I worked again at the Heart Alfresco Zone, meeting more Heart listeners and more face-painting.

After which, I decided to check out King Street, where yet more free entertainment was on offer. I did have to head back to Queen Square, where I'd fallen in love with the food!

I must say a massive congratulations to everyone involved in the festival, as it was such a fantastic weekend and best of all, it was FREE!
