George on a Boat

To celebrate the Bristol Harbour Festival, Ed, Troy and Paulina put Newsreader George on a boat in Bristol Harbour.

He was aboard 'The Irene' which is anchored next to Lloyds Amphitheatre.

The Irene was built in Bridgwater in 1907 and designed to work the channel ports. She sailed for 50years as part of the fleet of British Merchant vessels, sailing through 2 World Wars, 5 monarchs and 25 Prime Ministers. She retired from her trading service in 1960 and is now converted into a house boat. Her current skipper is Harold Lucas who joined George aboard during Fridays Heart Breakfast.
