Saturday 4th May The Real Man Challenge is to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. A unique pentathlon consisting of fishing, archery competition, golf challenge, fitness test and the thrilling contest will reach
it's conclusion with the bowling showdown. It's sure to be a competitive, most enjoyable and richly productive day for Cancer Research UK
 
Saturday 4th May The Meldreth May Fayre will be held from 1pm until 6pm on Meldreth Recreation Ground.  There will be a bar, live music, a BBQ, stalls, games and fun.
 
Saturday 4th May Ely Sailing Club are holding their annual Open Afternoon 13.00 until 16.00 at Ely Sailing Club, Rowell Pits, Prickwillow Road, Ely, Cambs, CB7 4TX.  Web: www.elysailingclub.org.uk. Come and have a free try at dinghy sailing as seen in the Olympics and see what a local club has to offer which also includes courses, social sailing and racing all of which the whole family can enjoy. A BBQ will also be cooking food, a bouncy castle will be on site and a couple of local bands will be playing.

Sunday 5th May The 10th Anniversary Bartlow 3 Counties Charity Walk takes place on Sunday 5th May with bank holiday weekend fun for all the family. Entertainment for all the family, balloons, bar, band, bouncy castle, petting zoo, home-made cakes, tea and coffee, games for the kids, face painting, raffle, stalls, free parking. Start time: 10am Dogs welcome on all walks. Bartlow, CB21 4PW
 
Sunday 5th & Monday 6th May Over 20 local potters are holding a Pottery Market at Stamford Arts Centre 11-00 am to 5-00pm. Admission Free. Come and watch the rolling film show of ceramic themed films and catch a few demonstrations of pot throwing, hand building and decorating. There will also be a tombola of plates made by the participating potters with proceeds going to the local Air Ambulance Charity.

Monday 6th May We really need some publicity for our Family Fun Daywhich is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 6 May from
12.00-4.00. The event is being held to raise much needed funds for St John's Church, Station Road, March and will be held in the Church
grounds.  Admission is only £3 each and everything else except refreshments is free.  Bring your dog along to enter our fun dog show. We
also have a Pet's Corner, display of cheerleading, assault course, giant games, face painting, art competition, side shows, etc
 
Saturday 11th May The PTFA (Parents Teachers and Friends Association) for Melbourn Primary School are holding the annual Spring Fayre from noon until 3pm. The Spring Fayre is a regular feature on the school¹s calendar and is one of the largest and most successful events run by the PTFA. Place: Melbourn Primary School, access through the village car Park, High Street, Melbourn. Entry: 50p for Adults. Children free. Attractions: Grand Prize Draw (Cash 1st prize!), Bouncy Castle, Inflatable Slide, Inflatable Assault Course, Sumo Wrestling, Swing Boats, Steam Train, Cambridge United Goal Speed Shot, Face Painting. Refreshments: BBQ, Pimms/Beer, Ice Cream Van.

Saturday 11th May RATRACE DIRTY WEEKEND event coming to Burghley Park, near Stamford 11th May 2013. www.ratracedirtyweekend.com We already have 5000 runners registered! It is a really tough run and is being produced on the grandest possible scale which will make it an amazing sporting day out. It is the world’s largest 20 mile assault course with 200 obstacles; some of which are colossal and truly punishing and all this will be run on our doorstep!

Sunday 12th May Winners of the Crufts Friends For Life Award 2013, and many other awards, Haatchi and his master (picture attached), will be visiting Wisbech St Mary on 12th May to judge in the Kennel Club Companion Show organised by the UK German Shepherd Rescue as an awareness and family fun day at Wisbech St Mary Community Sports Club, Beechings Close, Wisbech St Mary, Wisbech, Cambs, PE13 4SS
 
Sunday 12th May Willingham School Fun Run. Join us for a 4.5 or 7.7 mile run around a route on fen paths and quiet droves around Willingham. Registation is at the school between 9 and 10. The medal presentations for winners will be at the BBQ at the school after the races.

Friday 17th May Junior cycle races. The Fenland Clarion cycling club are organising four evenings of junior cycle raceswith the emphasis on fun & enjoyment. Suitable for complete beginners with loan cycles & helmets available if you don't have your own, ideally these should be arranged in advance to ensure availability. They will be race evenings, but its very much entry level racing with beginners very much in mind. All roadworthy bikes suitable to ride on grass will be fine. The evenings will cost £4.00 a time and each rider will get several races.
All with a 6.45pm start and ideally riders should arrive by 6.15pm to register. The racing will be for under 16's with some grasstrack training for fixed and freewheel riders for 16's and over. Saturday 18th  Shani & Sienna Belly Dance will be holding their Shimmyfest at The Brook in Soham. The event, being held in aid of Arthur Rank Hospice will feature some amazing dancers & is a chance to watch different styles of belly dance on a scale never before seen in the Ely area. Saturday 18th May Appeal for musicians of any age, any ability, any instrument to spare a few minutes of their time to take part in a
Musical Marathon at the Grafton shopping centre on Saturday 18th May. It is, however, essential to contact me to book a time slot - call Helen on 01550 720061 or by email at baylissjackson@btinternet.com to book a time slot. We have brand new piano, violin, guitar beginners, both young and old as well as vocal soloists, choirs, drummers and jazz musicians taking part so far, but we have plenty of space to fill as the Musical Marathon will be from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 18th May. This is a fabulous confidence building exercise and / or publicity opportunity to play, sing etc in public - everyone taking part will
receive a certificate. All funds raised will go to Waterbeach Guides who are having a mammoth
fund raising drive this year.

Saturday 25th - Sunday 26th May Carnival workshop. This work shop is brought to us by a company called Wishworks, they specialise in giant carnival structures and puppets. We hope to involve the local Schools in this project and make fantastic puppets for this years Carnival Parade. Newmarket Carnival will be held on 6th July this year.

Saturday 25th May Opening Day of The Lido 9-1pm. The Lido Swimming Pool Peterborough. This is the opening day of the Lido for the summer season of 2013. The Lido will be opened by the mayor as well as other members of the councils board. The opening day Is free to all members of public.
