Cambs Jobs Under Threat

More public service jobs are under threat across Cambridgeshire.

The Health Protection Agency is now reviewing how many people work for it in the county, after a proposal to cut staffing levels.

The HPA, which deals with issues like swine flu and major health scares - say 60 jobs in the county are now in doubt at it's offices in Histon, Huntingdon and at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

A final decision will be made later this year in a Government White Paper.

Today's news comes as staff at the Government Office for the East of England meet Union officials, to discuss their future.

The department, also known as "Go-East", last week, discovered it is to be abolished by the Communities Secretary.

150 jobs are now at risk after Eric Pickles said the running costs did not provide value for money.

In June, the Government said a further 250 jobs would also be scrapped with the closing of the East of England Development Agency, mainly based at Histon.
