18 March 2011, 06:00

Initial plans for 3,000 new homes in Ely are going on display.

East Cambridgeshire District Council has put a "Masterplan" together for Ely, that sets out how the city will grow over the next two decades.

That document predicts that the population of Ely will rise from around 18,000 people now, to approximately 27,000 people in 2031.

The new plans that are now being displayed are for 3,000 new homes on land just to the north of the Princess of Wales Hospital in north Ely.

They are being shown at The Lamb Hotel today (Friday) from 1030am - 7pm and on Saturday between 9am and 4pm.
