Plans have been drawn up for 500 new homes on the edge of Ely.

A new primary school, community hall, play areas and an extension to the proposed Ely Country Park are also in the plans.

A planning application has now been drawn up by developers for the land at Highflyer Farm, just behind the Princess of Wales Hospital.

New cycle-ways and footpaths would link the proposed country park extension to the rest of the neighbourhood.

According to developers, up to 30% of the homes would be classed as "affordable housing".

Developers also say bus routes to the centre of Ely would be improved.
