A man who was spotted breaking into a house in Cambridge has been jailed.

Ben Park, who is 25 and from Elizabeth Way in Cambridge, burgled the house in Belvoir Road on the 17th of April.

He was spotted by the owner of the house, who, along with a friend, chased him down.

Park pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to two years and five months in prison.

Detective Constable Peter Rivers said: "We were able to arrest Park within 45 minutes of the burglary thanks to quick-thinking neighbourhood officers with good local knowledge.

Due to the amount of evidence presented to him he had no option other than to plead guilty at court.

Park is a known drug abuser and it is suspected he committed this offence in order to fund his drug habit."
