Cambridge: Digger Used In ATM Theft

Thieves have stolen a digger from a building site and used it to try and steal a cash machine from a shop in Cambridge.

Police were called to reports of the theft at Waitrose at 2am today (Friday).

It's thought the thieves used a JCB digger, stolen from a building site nearby, to remove the cash machine from the shop, however Police do not currently believe anything was stolen.

Forensic tests are being done at the scene and officers are going through CCTV.

Detective Sergeantt Lindsay Harbour said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation and I would appeal to anyone with information about this theft to contact police.”
