A man from Cambridge, who befriended and then sexually abused a teenage girl, has been sentenced.

21 year old Ross Daines [pictured - right] from Appletrees in Bar Hill met the girl at a village skate park.

He then drove her to a supermarket car park and abused her between October and December last year.

Daines was caught and arrested after the victim told her parents.

He has since admitted sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15 and has been jailed for 21 months.

Detective Constable Paul Evans said: "Daines was well aware how old the girl was but continued to pursue her for a sexual relationship.

This case should send a strong message that anyone caught taking advantage of underage girls will be dealt with robustly and faces prison."
