A Cambridgeshire mum has set a new world record for the fastest marathon dressed as a (female) vegetable.

37-year-old mum-of-four Helen Juckes ran this years London Marathon in 3 hours, 47 minutes and 15 seconds.

The music teacher, who lives in Haslingfield, told Heart she decided to be a carrot on the big day - as they're more aerodynamic. She wasn't the only vegetable going for the record: "When I got to the start line I realised there was another carrot and there was also a runner bean - we were all going for the record.

"When I got to the last mile I realised - someone in the crowd told me that I'd done it so I was really chuffed when I came to the finish line and realised that I'd broken the world record."

Helen says her three sons and one daughter are proud of what their mum's achieved: "They were a bit embarrassed when I had to train in the carrot suit beforehand with all the orange body paint on but I think they'll survive."
