A man has been jailed for 17 and a half years for sexually assaulting a woman in Cambridge.

According to Cambridgeshire Police the 22 year old South London man, who can't be named for legal reasons, repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman while keeping her imprisoned at home during four days in April last year.

The man denied the charges but was convicted following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.

As well as a 17 and a half year jail sentence, the un-named man has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Sergeant Neil Hewson said: "The offender is a very dangerous man who subjected the victim to sexual, emotional and physical abuse.

She has shown great courage and determination in going to court to give evidence against her attacker which has resulted in his conviction and imprisonment.

We are pleased with the sentence which reflects the seriousness of the offences.

Hopefully, it will allow the victim to now move on with her life."
