Police are investigating a sexual assault on a woman in a Cambridge Park.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking home from a night out in the city when she was pushed to the ground in Christ's Pieces off Emmanuel Road at about 2.45am on Sunday 5th May.

The victim managed to struggle free and the man got away. He is described as white, possibly with long hair.

Detective Sergeant Neil Hewson said: "This was a terrifying experience for the woman who showed great bravery in fighting off her attacker. I would urge anyone with information to call police."

"This type of incident is very rare, however we would advise people to take the usual common sense precautions such as walking in groups when out late at night and sticking to well-lit areas."

Anyone with any information should call DS Hewson on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111
