Three men are to go on trial in connection with the murder of a pensioner in Chittering, near Cambridge.

76 year old Llywelyn Thomas, 76, was discovered at his home [pictured - right] in Ely Road, Chittering, Cambridgeshire, on December 18 2011.

He was last seen alive the previous evening.

Today (Friday) Frankie Parker, 25, of Nene Road, Ely, and Gary Smith, 20, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to the murder of Mr Thomas.

Earlier, at the same court, a third man, John Smith, 66, of Wold Gate, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, denied assisting an offender.

Parker and Gary Smith were remanded in custody, while John Smith was granted conditional bail.

The judge, Mr Justice Singh, said there will be hearing for the case at the Old Bailey on May 24, and the trial is due to start at Cambridge Crown Court on July 1.
