Coach And Lorry Crash On M11

Two people have been killed in a crash between a lorry and a coach on the M11.

It happened between junction 9 for Saffron Walden and junction 8 for Stansted Airport at around 2:30am on Saturday.

49 others were injured and taken to hospitals in Cambridge, Harlow and Chelmsford.

The lorry ended up on its side down an embankment with its driver trapped inside.

The road was closed between Duxford and Stansted Airport for around more than 12 hours following the crash.

The two people killed have been named as coach passenger Delia Walker, 63, from Pontefract Yorkshire and the lorry driver, 53-year-old Zdzislaw Piorko, who lived in Maidstone, Kent.

Essex Police have started an investigation into the cause of the crash and are appealing for any witnesses to contact the roads policing team on 0300 333 4444.
