Hinchingbrooke: Hospital Offers Massage For Overdue Mums

26 September 2012, 06:00

Reflexology, aromatherapy and acupressure sessions are to be offered at Hinchingbrooke hospital to help pregnant women who're past their due date.

From November the hospital will become the first in the East of England to offer complementary therapies on the NHS to help induce labour instead of a medical induction.

Midwife Tara Pauley who's been trained up to carry out the service at the hospital told Heart:

'If it works very favourably in terms costings and offering more choice, then feasibly it could be rolled out. Obviously we need to make sure it's a service that women are using and accessing and finding beneficial.'

The maternity unit at Hinchingbrooke is holding an open day on the 6th of October where people can go and find out more about the services on offer, find out more here
