A man's face has been slashed by an attacker with a knife in Ramsey.

The 31 year old victim was walking through a park in New Road at around 3:30pm on Friday.

A man approached him and asked for money.

The victim was then punched by the attacker, who also slashed at his face with a stanley-type knife and took his bag before running off towards Newton Road.

The victim suffered minor cuts to an eye brow and his hand and was treated at a nearby health centre.

The attacker is described as white, 40 to 45, about 5'9", with greying facial hair, and what's described as a London accent.

He wore a black hooded top and blue jeans.

PC Lorna Owen, who is investigating, said: "This was terrifying incident for the victim who was shaken up by what happened.

I am appealing for anyone who was in the area or recognises the person described to contact me."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Owen on 0345 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
