A woman was sexually assaulted twice in one night in Newmarket over the bank holiday weekend.

The woman, described by police as in her 20s, was walking along Palace Street at around 1:30am on Saturday.

A man approached her and asked if she was ok, to which she said she was fine and walked off.

As she approached the snooker centre, the man returned and she told him to go away.

The man then grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

After a struggle, they fell over a wall and into the church-yard.

The woman ran off and called Police, however the man managed to catch up with her.

He attacked her again, before the woman managed to struggle free.

The woman told the 999 operator that she was shaken but unhurt.

The attacker is described as Asian, around 30 years old, slim build, 5 foot 5 inches tall with short dark hair, a goatee beard and a large pointed nose.

He was wearing a short beige jacket and dark trousers.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact DC Sam Jenkins at West Suffolk CID on 01284 774 100 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
