A fire at a construction site in Red Lodge, near Newmarket, is believed to have caused around £600,000 worth of damage.

The fire on Warren Road is being treated as arson and Police are now investigating.

It started at around 6am yesterday morning and more than 30 firefighters were needed to put the flames out.

Two new build houses were destroyed and two others were badly damaged.

Detectives want to speak to two groups of people seen in the area around that time, as it's thought they may have information about the fire.

Three white male youths aged around 14 were seen nearby.

Also in the area were four men - one is described as an elderly man with white hair, the second a man in his 40s, the third a man in his 20s with short hair.

However, there is no description of the fourth.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call DS Helen Sowerby at West Suffolk CID on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
