A man who triggered a bomb scare on a plane, causing it to be diverted to Stansted, has been jailed for three years.
38 year old car worker James Glen, from Ayr in Scotland, had already admitted "communicating information about a bomb hoax" on an Ethiad Airways flight to Heathrow on the 24th January.
163 passengers were on board when Glen told a flight attendant that another passenger had a gun and threatened to blow himself up.
The passenger jet was diverted to Stansted, and escorted into the airport by two military jets which were sent to intercept the aircraft.
Glen had been returning to the UK after living in Australia for 18 years.
Duncan Penny, defending, said Glen had a "reported" history of depression, and added Glen had "consumed alcohol" and taken an anti-histamine drug.
