A week after a pregnant woman was slashed in the face with a blade in Cambridge, Police have done stop checks where it happened.

29 year old Hayley Baker was attacked while walking home along Hertford Street at 8.30pm last Thursday (December 12).

Police believe it was a completely random attack.

A team of officers stopped vehicles and pedestrians between 7.30pm and 9pm last night in the street where the attack happened, asking people to think back seven days.

Detective Inspector Jamie Stenton said: "We stopped a number of vehicles and spoke to many residents in the area.

It was a very useful exercise and we are continuing to follow up several lines of enquiry.

We have a dedicated team working on the investigation and will continue to put extra patrols in the area.

We would urge anyone with any information about this shocking crime to call police."

Anyone with any information is asked to call DI Stenton on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 08000 555111.
