A teenage boy is being held by Police, after a stolen car crashed into a patrol car in Cambridge last night.

At 9pm last night, officers spotted a silver Peugeot which had previously been stolen.

Officers followed the car as it turned on to Newmarket Road, near the Cambridge United FC ground.

The driver of the stolen car then drove straight at the patrol car, crashing into it.

Two cars that were parked nearby were also hit.

The driver of the stolen car then ran from the vehicle, so the force helicopter and dog unit were called to help track him down.

An arrest was then made at around 10pm.

A 17 year old boy, arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to stop, is being held in custody at Parkside Police Station.
