Axeman Arrested In St Neots
An armed police operation near a school in St Neots has led to the arrest, for a second time in two days, of the same man.
Around 10 o'clock yesterday morning (Thurs 2nd July), a man was seen with an air-rifle near the Bushmead School in Eaton Socon, that led to the lock-down of the school for around two hours.
A man in his 20s was later arrested and released on bail.
24 hours on from the first sighting of a man with a weapon, and once again the school was placed in lock-down after reports of the same man in the same area, this time with an axe.
Armed police arrived and surrounded a block of flats in Duke Road in Eaton Socon, a man was arrested at lunchtime.
This afternoon (Friday 3rd July), Cambridgeshire Police told Heart:
"We can confirm the person arrested following incidents of a man carrying an air rifle in Eaton Socon yesterday and a man carrying an axe in St Neots today were the same man, a 25 year-old man from St Neots, in custody."
We'll soon be able to forget faffing about with coins and tickets, when we park up at Royston train station.
Independent police investigators say officers, who had spoken to a drunk driver in Stamford minutes before he died, were not to blame for his death.
