Travel Firm Resume Flights From February
Cambridge - Busway Crash Driver Sacked
The firm running one of the Cambridge busway services, says it's sacked the driver responsible for last month's crash near Trumpington.
The empty single decker careered up the embankment on July 7th, scenes similar, and close-to another Busway crash in February.
Andy Campbell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East released a statement saying:
"An internal investigation found no evidence to suggest any fault with either the vehicle or the guided busway infrastructure.
The driver didn't follow busway procedures as specified in the guideway handbook and, as a result, no longer works for the company.
There were no passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident and no one was injured.
More than 3.5 million passengers use the guided busway every year - it remains significantly safer than the A14 and other major roads.
Nonetheless, we are in discussions with the County Council to review operational procedures and see if any changes would be beneficial."
