Police are looking to identify a man in connection with a distraction burglary on a 101-year-old woman in Northborough.
At about 7pm on Tuesday, May 24, the elderly victim was at her home in Lincoln Road, when she had a man claiming to be from the water board knock at her door.
He said he had just punctured a water pipe and wanted to check who it belonged to, when another man came up to the door.
The first one asked to enter the house to check the water before asking the victim to run the tap and empty the cupboard under the sink, while he checked the bathroom. The other man remained outside.
After about half-an-hour the victim could no longer hear the man inside, so went to check the bathroom to find that he had gone. It wasn't until later that evening when she checked her purse that she noticed her pension money, £400 in cash, was missing.
Detective Constable Leigh Mann said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have seen two men in the area of Lincoln Road in Northborough around the time of the incident, or who recognises the man in the CCTV image to contact police.
"I would also urge anyone else who may have fallen victim to these fraudsters to tell someone and also contact police, there is no shame in falling for their scams, but we need to know about it so we can bring them to justice and prevent any other people from becoming victims."
