Plans For Extra Park & Ride Services On Cambridge Match Days
Plans are being discussed for more park and ride services across Cambridge, on Cambridge United match days.
Local councillors have called for the provision, saying there are too many cars parking in the city on these days, causing problems for local residents.
Stagecoach, who run the park and ride service, say "This is something being discussed. We are involved in those discussions along with the local authority and Cambridge United FC. However, the ability to run buses direct to the football ground is dependent on the parking restrictions in place in the area on match days."
Cambridgeshire County Council have told Heart, "The extra services put on for the recent FA Cup proved successful in helping get away fans to the match. We want to look at ways local residents and home fans may also benefit from additional Park and Ride services on match days and are talking to partners, including the club and Stagecoach about ways of moving this forward."
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Leonne Weeks, 16, who was found dead on a path in Rotherham.
