New Entry Into Cambridge Station
As part of the Cambridge station redevelopment and CB1 project, there are changes for customers using the station from today (Monday 17th October).
The new Station Square's open today changing access for vehicles to the taxi rank, disabled parking and short stay parking areas will be switched to the new permanent route via Tenison Road and Great Northern Road.
Arriving by car or by taxi
The new route to the station will be along Station Road, then left into Tenison Road and right into Great Northern Road. Outside the CyclePoint, turn left for the car park or right for the taxi rank, disabled parking and short-stay parking in the square.
There will be no access to the station along the section of Station Road beyond Tenison Road.
Arriving by bus
There will be no changes to Citi bus services, but the ongoing works in front of the station will require installation of traffic lights over the next few months that may delay your bus slightly. Please allow a few extra minutes for completion of your journey.
Busway service R from Trumpington Park&Ride will temporarily reduce its frequency to half-hourly from this date, as the existing turning area in front of the station will be removed by the Station Square works.
For customers arriving on foot
Walking from the city along Station Road, please keep to the north side of the road to avoid the ongoing works, crossing to the south side at the temporary signalled crossing outside the Microsoft building.
For customers arriving by bike
The new area of Station Square will allow direct cycle access from the south. Please exercise great care when cycling across pedestrian areas.
Paul Stannard, Area Customer Service Manager, Abellio Greater Anglia said:
"I am very pleased that work at the station is nearing completion and that access to the station will improve once the Station Square opens on Monday. I would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding whilst we complete these improvements to help provide better journeys and customer service at Cambridge."
In addition, customers are advised that, because of major engineering works on Saturday 15, Sunday 16 October and Sunday 23 October, the station car park will be closed to facilitate the operation of Rail Replacement Bus services. Full details are available from the station information desk.
