The seven day countdown to the Cambridge stage of the Tour de France has now started...

After months of preparation and planning, there's just one week left until the biggest sporting event Cambridge has ever seen!

The world famous cycle race will start alongside Parker's Piece next Monday lunchtime.

Around 120,000 spectators are expected in Cambridge next week to watch the cyclists, including Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome, speed off through Essex, towards London.

Steve Dighton from Bluntisham has been chosen to be a Tour Maker, and says he can't wait, "I love the Tour de France and I love cycling itself.

"I figured that this would be a good way to be part of it. It's the only option I'll probably ever have in my life of being a part of the Tour de France, I'm never going to be one of the cyclists and I'm probably never going to be part of the organising committee.

"I've got the trousers, the shirt, hat, jackets, backpacks, and water bottle.

"You won't be able to miss us [Tour Makers]. We've got lime green jackets and hats, a blue t-shirt and black trousers."
